Carl Ignacio
Carl Herman Ignacio, 89, of Honokaa died Oct. 2, 2015, at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born in Waipunalei, he was a retired plantation mill supervisor with the former Ookala Sugar and Hamakua Sugar companies and member of Honokaa Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Friends may call at 8 a.m. Oct. 10 at Honokaa Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial follows at Honokaa Catholic Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by son, David (Kathy) Ignacio of Hilo; daughter, Anita Badon of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Jacob (Elsie) Ignacio of California, Kenneth Ignacio of Rhode Island, Richard (Irene) Ignacio of Honokaa; sisters, Evelyn Ignacio of California, Marguerite Ferreira of Kona; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Shozo Taketa
Shozo Taketa, 87, of Hilo died Oct. 3, 2015, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born March 10, 1928, in Holualoa, he was the retired vice president of the lumber department at H.P.M. Building Supply.
Friends may call at 4 p.m. Oct. 11 at New Hope Hilo for a 5 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by daughters, Jettijean (Rodney) Kelii and Laurisa (Harry) Nishimoto, both of Hilo; sons, Russel (Stephanie) Taketa and Dennis (Lori) Taketa, both of Hilo; brother, Tadao Taketa of Honolulu; sisters, Setsuko Yamagata and Taeko (Sho) Mukawa, both of Honolulu; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
